Atleast there is the mystery aspect to keep things interesting. It is clear that someone has sent Takeru there.

There is also things getting increasingly grim as of episode 5. Yeah, I am sure that there will be a happy ending but for now things look rather bleak. The oni are cutting loose and even the best onmyouji are fumbling (plus dying). I appreciate that Takeru was effected by everything he has gone through. His trauma was mostly resolved in a single episode with him taking that single step but atleast he needed to take some time to find his footing again.

I am still watching the show and liking it well enough but it has made the mistake of having too many revelations. A character or the world/setting not being as initially shown can make for a great moment of shock, there is such a thing as having too many twists and turns though. The pacing has amped up rather quickly with Takeru now being in the final world, it makes sense given that only two episodes are left.

This show has been on the cusp for me pretty much from day one, but still managed to stay on the side of being kept... barely. However, I have been enjoying the series of revelations. The one about Tsukimiya being a baddie all along is pretty interesting. You don't see that done too often. I suspect that ultimately her character will be redeemed, but I'm not 100% sure of that.

Both her and Abe have such a staggering death count due to their actions that I am not really seeing it, unless it is some sacrifice type thing.

Yeah, I don't really have a strong sense what form her redemption would take, if there is one. Could even be something like, "all those earlier versions you met at the beginning of the series didn't know what the main body was doing so they weren't lying or faking you out." I dunno.

Nah, Abe may get some sort of redemption and he still has some people backing him despite everything but Tsukimiya is way beyond the point of any redemption. Snuffing out her own people and who knows how many versions of Heian-kyo makes sure of that. The episode crammed a lot of information in, the result is it feeling rushed but given that the ending is next week rushing seems necessary.

Yup, that was a very rushed finale. The content itself was not bad and made for a fitting enough end but nothing had room to breathe since so much had to be jammed into a single episode. Abe and Tsukimiya dying as they did felt fitting and Takeru opening a restaurant too. Though, come to think of it, he is not of their world so it is surprising to not see him return to his original one.

Anyway, a decent enough show that tried to do a bit too much in 12 episodes.

Episode 12 (Finale)

It's never a good sign for a show that the dominant emotion you feel when it is over is relief, but that's where I am with this title. It was another one that made me think of dropping it, but then some new revelation would keep me going. It's definitely a show that if I had gotten a peek into the future of how I would feel about it in the end, I would never have started watching it. Oh well. Cant win 'em all. The show has left open the possibility of a sequel, but if that happens, I won't bother jumping back onboard. 5/10.
