I love the Lupin gang and Char as much as the next guy but Hero is sort of pushing it. Then again to me Hero and protagonist are two different things.

What the hell i never agree with count down list even when they use polling.

I thought Dragon Ball was not as big in Japan as it is in the United States. The top two heroes are from dumb shonen series; what a joke. Char Aznable should be at least in the top 5.

I am much, much more satisfied with the heroines list.

The heroine list is perfect. Fujiko Mine & Minami... I miss Madoka Ayukawa (the first tsundere girl) in the top 3.

Dragon Ball was a global phenomenon. Until One Piece, it was the best selling manga series of all time in Japan. It was one of the highest rated Shonen anime series, and its games were some of the highest selling anime based games.

Always great to see One Piece on the list and I love how Luffy and Goku were voted by people of almost all ages too.

It's father of all modern shounen. Pretty much all current Jump mangaka consider it a main point of inspiration for them. Japan really likes the "braindead good guy hero" archetype in Goku/Luffy, so of course they'd be at the top somewhere. Though I guess people above 40 don't care about Dragonball/One Piece. It's nice to see the shows get older along with the voters.

I thought Fist of the North Star was considered the "father" of modern shonen.

It's actually more like the swan song of classic shonen.

Anyone who understands Son Goku at all would hesitate to call him "heroic" per se. Saving the day seems to come second to having exciting fights with powerful guys. He still does it, mind you, but not entirely for the right reasons all the time.

Bulma: We could use the dragon balls to locate Dr. Gero and stop him before he executes his master plan, thereby potentially saving countless lives at a minimal risk!
Goku: But I really wanna fight the androids!

Wow, I'm really surprised Spiderman made this list! Anime hyper It seems to lean toward a list of favorite protagonists though, instead of best heroes.
