Hello,
I just noticed that the title "Junior Encyclopedist" has been added to my name in forum posts. What's going on? I haven't been contacted by anyone about joining the staff or asked to do anything more than what any other member can. Is this something like at eBay where you get a different color star for the number of positive feedback points you get? (Report 25 errors and become a Junior Encyclopedist.) Besides, Junior Encyclopedist reminds me of when I was in elementary school and some firefighters would visit and give everyone plastic Junior Fireman badges. Seriously, if someone on the staff did this because of the time I've donated to making submissions to the ANN encyclopedia, thank you. But, unless I actually have some sort of authority I'd rather not have other members think that what I may say represents ANN in any official way (assuming that they care what I say at all). Your assumption is correct. Briefly, it's because you have submitted more than 1000 entries of information into the Encyclopedia. Please refer to this thread for more information.

I was pretty surprised, myself, until dormcat cleared things up for me.

Interesting viewpoint. It doesn't say "Staff", and you're not listed on the Staff page (in fact, neither was dormcat, last I looked, even though he is staff, now). But it is likely that that mix-up is going to occur. The use of the term "Encyclopedist" also promises confusion with "The Encyclopedist", to whom one mails error messages. It doesn't bother me, but I can imagine that it might bother others, and it clearly bothers you. Perhaps the Powers That Be would allow people to opt-out, or substitute another set of titles, say, "Encyclopedia Contributor (1000+)" and "Encyclopedia Contributor (5000+)". Like a level system. Hmm. At what level do we get Fireball?
