I think one of my DVDs is defective. It goes through the previews and things but at the menu it stops up. It isn't RealPlayer, either, because I tried another DVD to see if that was the problem. On the back of the disc, there didn't appear to be any kinds of damage...which was weird.
Thing is, I ordered the set quite a while back (close to Christmas). Can I still get a replacement from Amazon, or should I try to fix the disc first, or what? Help is much appreciated.

First thing I would do is get a hold of Amazon, if that's who you bought it from. I would think that online return policies are a bit more lenient than brick and mortar stores, but that's why you should contact who you bought it from just to make sure. I wouldn't hold my breath if it's been more than a month though. But at least it's worth a try for it.

And if that doesn't work you can try the publisher.
What disc was it?
Edit:
Also, it sounds like you have just tried it on your computer. Did that also happen in the DVD player?

RahXephon thinpak disc 6...and I just tried disc 7, it didn't work right either! At first I thought it might be because of heat damage as I had the box sitting on top of my tower, but there's a rather thick book sitting there, too, so that wouldn't likely be the cause. The other discs seem to work fine, however.
EDIT: just saw your edit. I don't have a DVD player in my dorm, I use my comp to watch my DVDs.

Well don't tell them that, they won't give you any kind of refund or replacement if it just doesn't work on your computer.
See I had my Rune Soldier thinpak(old version), and it wouldn't play episode 8 on my DVD player, but all the other episodes worked fine. However I could get it to playback on my computer. The disc in question didn't have a scratch on it. I never really did anything about it because I only had to watch one episode on the computer, and let's face it, it's no masterpiece. But if it can work like that I figure the opposite can be true as well. Works on player, but not computer.
I am sure one of your dorm mates has a DVD player, it might be worth it to check it out.

I just tried their customer service, they said they can send a replacement but at the moment they can't do squat because their system is having technical issues. Sooo they can't pull up my account info. Technology, it is pwnful, no?
EDIT: Rune Soldier? NOT a masterpiece? How dare you insult the greatest fantasy epic since Lord of the Rings?

Dargon may be right because there are times when they don't design the discs for computer playback. That would depend upon the manufacturer, really.

I would wonder, though, why all the other discs worked in the drive and when I get to the last two...BOOM! No movie for you!

It's probably a long shot, but do you have a different program to try other than RealPlayer? Maybe it's just that it hates those particular discs, who knows why.
You could try something like VLC Player. It seems to be able to handle a lot of stuff that gives other programs fits.

Tried Windows Media Player and VLC. No dice.
Wait...I tried VLC again, it actually does work there. Must have needed the new version. I guess RealPlayer just doesn't like some DVDs after all.

Up to date software may be needed as well, though I would have thought that would be for certain video files. If it also applies to DVDs you may want to check that out.

My version of RealPlayer is from 2005. I wonder if the newer version would not have the same issues.

2005 technology can practically be considered ancient. Now you're having to update every couple of months or so. There's no telling whether the new version would have problems, but there is a lot that can happen in four years as far as technology is concerned. Whether you want to update would be up to you.

Ugh. Halfway through one of the episodes on the disc, the video started to get scrambled/jumbled. I think that means there is something the matter. Great.

You know, I feel like an idiot because I had misplaced my X360's power cord in a very easy-to-find spot, so I popped RahX disc 6 in, no problems, no fuzzy or blocky video, no stalling at the menu. Do some PCs just not agree with the way certain DVDs are encoded/copy-protected?
