Well, for ways to spice up what looks to be a relatively small affair, Giant Twister and cosplay chess ought to keep people's attention. A sword demonstration is a good idea for entertaining an intimate audience as well.
The atmosphere at this little convention appears to be notable, but I fathom the 'communal' feeling (for want of a better phrase) amongst the attending fans could easily be bettered by bigger events.

It probbably could. However I think it gets alot more difficult when a convention starts growing too large and expands its diversity more and more.

True. I should expect the venue, security and crowd management would become more pressing issues when attendance begins to wax. Then again, nothing beats a vibrant mass of fellow Otaku. Not even perspiration.
