Its true, I had two shocks this afternoon. The first one was that I got my Shonen Jump magazine a whole week and half earlier (like that ever happens). After a few minutes I decided to open the package and was greeted with the bold words "Don't Miss Dragon Ball Z Final Monthly Chapter!" Not that I really cared for Dragon Ball Z to begin with, but never the less, I was stunned. According to the article, the first bimonthly graphic novel will come out June 2005.

*Not to mention they seem to be using a new, crappier type of paper that does not smell half as good as the old one.

Put it this way, no more Dragonball covers! Maybe now the cover can go to Hikaru for once.

Don't they always put Yugioh on the cover anyways? I haven't read SJ in over a year, and all the covers look the same to me...

They put on the cover whatever will get the most non-manga readers to read the magazine. Right now, that's Yugioh. Next fall, we might be complaining about all of the Naruto covers.

It's not even license by Viz.

I don't think anything will replace Dragon Ball Z. Shonen Jump was simply too crowded with 7 stories. I imagine the 2 month Yu-Gi-Oh hiatus a few months back was Viz's test to see how manageable a 6-story format would be. Plus, the DBZ cash cow is running dry, so Shonen Jump can afford to drop DBZ, since Naruto-mania will probably occur this fall and carry the magazine with Yu-Gi-Oh.

As for Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo: The licensing of the anime makes me all but positive that Viz will publish the manga as part of the Shonen Jump Graphic Novel series by the end of the year.

Right, they aren't adding another story. Hopefully they'll be able to put more chapters of whats left in it though. I'll be ticked if they just shorten the magazine.

what exactly is Shonen Jump? is it just a magazine with articles on manga, or does it have previews of manga, or whole chapters of manga, or what?

You don't know what Shonen Jump is? Where have you been living?

Yes, it has full chapters of manga, some articles. Now there are only 6 stories in the "mangazine."

Yu-Gi-Oh
Naruto
One Piece
Hikaru no Go
Shaman King
Yu Yu Hakusho

Your welcome. I've never been to Ohio so I don't really know what your situation is. Anyway, I like your Totoro avatar.

Actually, I think the reason it's being taken out is because everyone who's interested in DBZ has already seen the anime. Think about it. Why else would they fast-forward Yu-Gi-Oh? If it's been on TV long enough, they'll probably skip it.

YuYu is probably still in there because it's almost over, and it's the most popular manga in Shonen Jump, according to Anime Insider.

If they don't replace DBZ with something, I'm gonna be ticked.

Weekly Shonen Jump usually runs one chapter of a manga per week, so they can fit alot more stories in the magazine. Because the US version is monthly, this would mean that everything would come out at a very slow rate.
