OK I bought this because I'd really love to see more authors doing this, but the translation seriously needs to be done more professionally. There are words left out of sentences, strange word choices that don't make sense, and all the names are in all caps. I applaud the thought behind this, but the execution needs work.

I couldn't agree more- I "ran out" & bought this on Kindle after reading this article (what the heck, support an enterprising novelist...) & began reading. The main problem with the translation being, well, barely translated is that it takes away from the book's appeal as a book. For me, at least, reading is about style as well as content. In the case of this book, the style is only of interest to someone learning Japanese (to see how the translation reflects differences in the languages) & the content is nothing special- because it has no style to support it! I have no idea why they thought this was a good idea, but caveat emptor.
