Yes, the initial box set released had Volumes 1.1 and 4.1, at the time Case Closed was still airing on Adult Swim, so instead of releasing all of the episodes in order, they opted to release the discs from where AS stopped their broadcast, Funi will eventually release the other DVDs between the gap, but I don't think they're in much of a hurry to get that done right now...

So to clarify, the notation means "season 4, episode one", correct?

Actually, it would be more like "Season 4, Disc 1." FUNimation keeps the original Japanese episode counts, so Disc 4.1 is episodes 53-55 and so on. There are five discs per "Case."

To let you know, if you prefer english dub then your gonna be really disappointed (just like me).
Case Closed only goes up to about 90 episodes dubbed, they stoped dubbing it after that. So the rest your gonna have to read.

What're you talking about? Funi hasn't stopped dubbing CC, it's just that they've only dubbed a little past what availible on the DVDs, keep in mind dubbing anime takes time so don't assume they've stopped just because new episodes aren't availible yet

They are still making more. Yeah, I read somewhere that Funimation will continue making Case Closed Dvds as long as there is intrest in them, I dont remember where. Well I personally think they are great...

Well thats why I though they stopped. Because from my experience not too many people are interested in this anime. It's not as popular as a lot of the other animes out now.

Which is... not totally correct. Since Funi is still wanting to put put Case Closed on TV, there is a slight difference between the Japanese episode numbers and that of Funi. There are more than a few one-hour or even two-hour special episodes in Detective Conan; Funi cut them into episodes of half hour. Up to the current disc (Case 5 Volume 3) this skew is two episodes.
