This is an older title, and still one of my faves. Well, older when compared to most of the other anime titles discussed in this forum...
Has anyone else watched this one all the way through? I recently dug up my box set and watched it again, to help ID some cels, and the ending really puzzled me... I was wondering what other people thought about it. Here's a brief recap: spoiler[The Eye of God is out of control, thanks to Ifurita's "malfunction". Remember, in the TV series they made Ifurita into a ditzy twit - and Jinnai got her to the Eye of God so he could take over El Hazard, etc. Anyway, the only way to stop the Eye from destroying the world was for Makoto to go into it and do something. He did this, and disappeared. Then everything stopped. Some days passed, and then the other three Earthlings (Nanami, Jinnai, and Mr. Fujisawa) somehow KNEW that he was back... he RE-appeared... for the final scene of the TV series. However, he was sporting ANGEL WINGS... which led me to wonder if he had died? Was that his GHOST or something? I watched this through before, when the VHS box set first came out, and then once after that a few years ago, to help ID some of my cels... now I notice those wings, and I can't figure out what that's supposed to mean.] I'd be really interested to see what other El Hazard TV fans thought about this. I was really surprised that I'd never seen (what's mentioned above) before... |

Im not sure. Im puzzeled about that myself.
All I can say is I love the whole series, the tv and ova. Oh, and about the ending, one thing that I really enjoyed a lot: spoiler[Was how after Infurita kept the eye of god from crashing, Jinnai actualy picked her up to carry her off, and told her that she did a good job. I was like, "wow, cool". That was so not like him. It actualy shows that he does have a heart and can care for someone.]

It looks like you are talking about the first series the eye of god has been hi-jacked after the missing princess is used to hi-jack it's controls.
spoiler[ Infurita reveals that only she can redirect it's energy and that it will be a one-way trip, She needs Makoto's help to enter the EoG. Makoto befoe he is sent back give's Infurita all of his memories. Infurita saves the worlde and is sent 10,000 years back and to Makoto's world where they first me and sends him to El Hazard. Just as the last of Infurita's energy is fading away after sending Makoto to El Hazard, He reappears in a cloud smoke and equiptment (he Made) to rescue Infurita] |

No, that's the OVA ending - the TV ending was what I typed in the spoiler section above. I just wanted to know spoiler[ if Makoto died while doing that... it would surprise me if he did, because the TV series was so lighthearted and fun, and generally NOBODY died in it... so, what the heck did those wings mean? ]
