I recently picked up all three volumes of this awesome manga based on a novel. Sadly there is no anime series to speak of for Sword Of The Dark Ones yet.

Sword Of The Dark Ones, basically think of it as Berserk meets Trigun. A very sort of post-apocalyptic settting like Trigun or Trinity Blood, with a kind of western/steam-punk/European type setting. Our hero is Leroy Schwartz. Leroy's a former mercenary, one of the best. And what the mercenaries do is hunt demons called Dark Ones that have devastated humanity and the world. Leroy's biggest weakness is pretty women. He has a very tough exterior but deep down he will always help those who are in need.

His only comrade is his talking, sentient sword named Ragnarok. Leroy has a dark secret that is pretty disturbing in itself.

The manga is only three volumes and a great, quick read, so I recommend it to anybody to pick it up. Leroy is just such a cool and awesome character.

There are only three volumes, but there is still tons of story left to tell, things we haven't seen yet. We need more adventures of Leroy in like a 26 episode series. If not, there's enough there for a good OVA series or even a feature length movie.

So has anyone else here checked out Sword Of The Dark Ones have any thoughts?

Sounds amazingly cookie cutter and generic, to be honest. "Guy fights demons, guy cant handle women! Drama and Hyjinks!"

I assure you its not.

It has a very strong theme of self-acceptance and internal conflicts with one's own identity.

Leroy strikes me as Naruto if Naruto was older and more hardened by battle and life.
