I haven't seen the original, but was that an edit? Me I don't mind as I know what it is supposed to be. So, red, black just as long as they keep as much as possible in.
Also I thought the begining was funny, and then it was finally cool to see what that sand dude could do, hence the explosions of black blood. oh and another thought, why is the show called Naruto? I mean the show is really about Sasuke and Naruto, and to a lesser extent Sakura. And I would say out of those three it is more about Sasuke. It should be named like Team Sasuke or something(good thing don't get paid to come up with title names). |

A lot of people ask this, and for a while it will seem like Sasuke really is the main character. But once you hit episode 51 I believe, Naruto takes the spotlight again (Naruto even has the same complaint when he does a preview for an episode). Anyway a lot of the Sasuke stuff going on right now is a lot of groundwork for things that happen much later. Since the show airs once a week it's gonna be a few months but after that Naruto will take the stage.

Yes, black blood. but it was still blood and they left alot of it in the show, which is a great thing. despite its off-color, i'm pretty sure most peolple would be able to get that it's blood. Gaara even says it's blood.

I didn't get a chance to see it, but my friend told me how Gaara squished those ninjas, and black stuff flew out... I asked him again cause I thought I heard him wrong "Black?". I had read the manga and I too wonder if it was an edit, I'm almost positive it was. Unless blood turns black with sand, it should be an edit.
Well, I still think the story is mainly about Naruto and Sasuke is a back up character that we learn about as we go along. Is Inuyasha a good example? The show could have easily been called "Kagome" since it mainly revolves around her. When she goes back to her time, who does the show focus on? We know so much about the main character (Naruto), that we need another character(s) (Sasuke) to add that mystery concept of the show that keeps us watching each week (Who is it he wants to kill? [not a spoiler since he said this in the earlier episodes]). Believe It! |

Yeah, Sasuke is in the spotlight a lot, and personally I prefer him to Naruto in a lot of ways. There's actually a point (very minor spoiler) in which spoiler[Sasuke does not appear for a year or so worth of manga], and yet STILL he tends to win "favorite character" polls that they run in Shonen Jump, usually several spots above Naruto (although how Iruka consistantly remains in the top five is beyond me).

Quite frankly I found last nights naruto somewhat more disturbing for another reason. That reason being that the Ninjas are useing a VHS to monitor the ninjas. This show is makeing less sense by the week. Somewhere inside of me a little voice screamed out. What the hell is going on here. The voice then asked a valid question. Why if they have a VCR, arent the students packing heat. I mean if a teacher is checking a timestamp in one scene. From a security camera. Then why in the next scene isn't naruto flipping out. Pulling out a baretta, and going ballistic on a enemy ninja.
I am lost no I do not expect the show to be thoroughly logical, but this made no sense to me at all. What era is this supposed to be anyway? Does this show continue to play this loose with logic down the line. In other words am I going to see robots, cars, fighter jets, and little ninjas playing videogames. Now I could tell this show was never set in a real time, but there did seem to be some semblance of a logic. Last nights show made me wonder. Ninja blood black. I can see it those ninja were obviously cyborgs. Damn those cyborg ninja for pretending to be regular psychotic assassin kids. Seriously who cares about the blood. The question on my mind was are they useing coaxial, or is some ninja running out to replace the tapes. I mean if someone has to run out every couple hours to replace the tapes. Then might they do what a ninja should do which is observe undetected. |

According to manga-ka Kishimoto, Naruto takes place in an alternate world than ours. He says the technology in this world is advanced enough to include tvs and computers, but that gun and explosives technologies are way behind ours. He does this because it would ruin the fight scenes if someone just pulled out a gun and started shooting. I mean, how interesting would that be? |

I watched the episode subbed, and it looks like the blood was black in the subbed version as well.
So unless my eyes were playing tricks on me, I don't think the colour of the blood was edited. |

Naruto is set in an alternate present. They have a lot of the same stuff we have, such as tv, vcrs, basic electricty to run them, microwaves, film, indoor plumbing, portable communication devices, etc. What they appear to lack is anything internal combustion powered (cars, buses, planes, etc.), and anything based on gunpowder (ie guns).

So technology makes you wonder about the series, yet Ninja's doing the impossible and turning into monsters doesn't make you think that quite possibly these ninjas can have technology?
It's all fantasy in case you didn't know. |

Yeah, if them using a VCR and security cameras made you go "Huh?", why not all the telephone poles with wires running all over Konoha? I remember, it always used to make me laugh that (very minor spoiler) spoiler[the one 'big bad guy' shot of Itachi is him crouching in fron of the moon.. on top of a telephone pole.]

Most people got the whole "semi tech" thing covered when in the 4th or 5th episode they were doing the "hunt for Tora" mission, and were wearing millitary style earbud/throat rigs. Also that they had modern style toilets in the second episode. Also that they were using modern concrete and rebar construction on Tazuna's bridge. Also that some characters, like the gangster boss in that arc, worse modern suits, and character like Kakashi wear modern flak jackets. Also the chainlink fence surrounding the forest of death. Really it's fairly evident that they aren't in fuedal times or anything.

Cool, so that means even the creators thought exploding bodies of blood was to much for them. Least for the audience they were going for. That all I was trying to figure out when I asked. So blood dripping from a knife or coming from a cut, is fine, but the line is drawn at exploding bodies. As for the whole tech thing, I mean is everyone in the village a ninja. I mean there has to be farmers and stuff, wht are they going to do while the crops grow, watch new episodes of Naruto on TV if you ask me. And I bet they can't fly through the tress at mach one either, so I am guessing they use telephones. |
