here's my list of anime i'm planning to buy. the list is pretty long and it'll probably take me more than a year to get em all. especialy because i'm a quallity freak and want everything in PAL (seeing i'm from belgium and PAL has u much higher screen quallity than NTSC). after searching the encyclopedia for all i could find that looked appealing to me. because most (about 80%) of this list a haven't seen, and i'm just judging it by the trailers, revieuws, synopsis, etc. whether i would like them or not. i don't like perky stuff, no hentai, no schoolgirl romance stuff (unless it's really really really good), no naruto, gundam, FMA or DBZ, call me narrow minded if you must but i just really hate hypes. except for kenshin offcourse
ghilbli studio i don't really like all that much, most is a bit to disney for my taste anyway, as i said the list is already pretty long and i was woundering if any of you could see if there are other titles which could fit in my list. make your choice by looking at the titles and adding simmualar titles. and if there's a title in there you really think i should take out feel free to tell me! Texhnolyze Peace maker Kurogane Jin-roh Rahxephon series/movie Ergo proxy Samurai 7 Gungrave Gankutsuou -the count of monte cristo- Kakurenbo Paranoia agent FLCL Dead leaves Golden boy Beyond the clouds – the promised place Kurau – phantom memory Cowboy bebop tv Serial experiments lain Twelve kingdoms Tsubasa chronicle (chronicle of the wings) tv Kino’s journey Monster Mushishi Grave of the fireflies Mindgame Rurouni kenshin 1 2 3 Rurouni kenshin seisohen Mononoke hime Elfen lied Lunar legend tsukihime Otogi zoshi Utawarerumono Fantastic children Neo ranga Xxx holic series/movie Vampire hunter D : Bloodlust Boogiepop phantom Witch hunter robin Neon genesis evangelion: end of evangelion .hack//sign Speedgrapher Tekkaman blade oh, and for the love of god, mind the spoilers |

Judging by the majority of these titles, you seem to have good, mature taste. Kudos to you! =)
Here some similar, sophisticated titles that I deem excellent masterpieces and which you can't help but end up liking: Now And Then, Here And There- one of the best classic adventure anime Planetes - slice of life science-fiction in a realistic setting Cat Soup (OVA) - surreal 30min short about two cats Perfect Blue (movie) - renowned psychotic thriller about a Japanese idol Millenium Actress (movie) - a fantastic and heart-warming tale about an actress Haibane Renmei - heart-warming slice of life anime about girls with wings, featuring excellent character design |

Well, I might as well through my my list of Must see shows. I tried to keep it as small as possible, but I'm sure you can see that a large percentage of those shows are already on your list, a good sign
Voices of Distant Star - Another brilliant piece (and the better of the two imo) by Makoto Shinkai (the guy who directed The Promised Place) If you're ok with downloading unliscensed shows, here's two that are must sees: Air - An extremely touching tale that takes in place in a "fantastical" little city. Although based off a hentai game, don't underestimate this one, I absolutely promise you'll cry. Hunter X Hunter - By far my biggest surprise, it blows my mind to this day that this show was never liscensed. It's like a strictly better version of Naruto. If you're a shounen fan, this is the best in the best in the genre. Other than those? Here's my suggestion if you know what you like: go to the top 50 shows list here at ANN, then just start clicking on the shows down the list and reading the descriptions and the genres, if it sounds appealling and it's liscened, buy it. If you're as openminded about it as me, you probably won't find many (if any) things on that list that you don't like. |

both of you, thanks for the quick response.
i've added millenium actress voices of a distant star cat soup i'm sorry but air still looks a bit to perky for my taste and hunter x hunter still looks a bit to much like naruto and dbz. and i know what i'm like, if i don't like it straight away, i'm not gonna spend money for it. (i'll be spending enough as it is..) but i think i should've mentioned those i have allready seen and have at home. haibane renmei trigun evangelion noir samurai champloo spirited away escaflowne spriggan kenshin trust and betrayal metropolis cowboy bebop the movie steamboy arjuna akira memories kai doh maru last exile wolf's rain seen but not buyin: perfect bleu (realy liked it but not that i want to buy it) my neighbour totoro nausica of the valley of the wind roujin z armitage III vampire hunter d (total crap) street fighter alpha (same as perfect blue) hellsing (same) fatal fury tree of palme |
