Also, I hope this all eventually leads into an anime remake, where we actually get Flaus in the plot so Beld isn't such a cookie-cutter villain.

It's basically the Anime Game Of Thrones. Fantasy is hot right now.

It's because the OVA is getting a sorely needed BD release, it's kind of a big deal. Also, elves and fantasy are hot, which is why we'll hopefully see some Lodoss doujins.

But hasn't it been since Lord of the Rings.
And Record of Lodoss War is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year.
