Given that this season is pretty light on the slice of life and CGDCT I was hoping that Wonderful Workplace would be good and it thankfully is. The banter and chemistry between the characters is pretty fun and seems to be the main attraction of the show. Character wise there is high maintenance plus slightly unstable mangaka Futami whose previous editor gives me the creeps. Also fun are the serious and sometimes harsh illustrator Mizuki plus airheaded Kaede.

This really is a surprisingly good show. All the characters so far have felt unique with something interesting to offer personality or interest wise. The show also goes into the manga aspect a fair bit with the difficulties and frustrations that come with it, the result is it not feeling like a gimmick.

I have never thought about the prospect of a talented mangaka being swept away by an editor from a rival magazine. It makes me wonder how cutthroat the business as a whole is.
Episode wise it seems smart for Futami to stay focused on one series considering how chaotic and somewhat unstable she is.

The show is still making me think of the manga industry in ways I have not done before. It is easy to only look at the success stories and their highly populair mangakas but it must be utterly crushing to win a newcomer award and then be told that it is being cancelled not long after. Hard to imagine recovering from that.

Episode 11 was lively with most of the cast being in the same room.

A Mangaka's Weirdly Wonderful Workplace was a pleasant surprise. I did not expect much at the start but the fun cast, interesting insights into being a mangaka and the show just being extremely comfy made for a great experience. It is a slice of life worth watching and I am likely to rewatch it several times in the coming years.
