Have to admit I watched this whole series because I found from the start it had a certain earnest quantity to it which I really appreciated.

This! I liked the fact that it was a little more realistic than other idol male idol shows

Count me as another one who loved this show. I started watching in equal parts thanks to a friend and your reviews. (I was actually a bit sad when more people didn´t vote to keep reviewing the streaming). Yes, I'm aware that it was a little bit glossed over but even then it was still miles more realistic than other idol anime. I also loved how they were never afraid to take chances with the narrative. Sometimes it didn´t work as well (having to watch that whole play or the entertainment show complete with other people's songs), but when it did work, it did so with flying colors (I think they got the hang of it by the second season. The drama series episode comes to mind as a hilarious example).
I wish more shows were this clever, to be honest.
