Not surprising. I recall an anime character design from a magazine for an arc the anime ultimately didn't cover. Helps that the anime was popular.
They're probably going the Oreimo route of season > OVA arc > new season.

Whether it gets fully adapted or not, I just hope the author doesn't chicken out at end of the novel like he did with Oreimo...

Truth be told, he was forced to do that since the show became so mainstream. This time they are not related by blood however, so... Well...
