What's with the character designs? Nozomi and Mizore look different, less cutesy; I prefer the look of the series.

^^My guess is that these designs are more fitting for the direction of Naoko Yamada’s storytelling. I honestly don’t really mind it.

Anyway, I’m very much looking forward to this film and I hope that there can be a way for this movie to be available on a legal streaming service (Preferably Crunchyroll) at some point within 2018.

Judging by the trailer, it seems the movie is advertised as being from the staff of A Silent Voice more than being a Sound! Euphonium movie. The latter is not even in the title of the movie either.

I wasn't much of a fan of this duo's storyline in Eupho's second season, so I'm hoping this will be at least better than that.

The connection with A Silent Voice and the accolades this film received are certainly prominently incorporated into the trailer and media coverage, such as this Oricon write up. This mention of its staff and the 40th Japan Academy Prize for excellence in Animation specifically, probably what you had in mind:

From the launch of the related, dedicated website, with its distinct visuals, there has been something a little different about this production and I quite like that aspect... this approach. In that there is always something to talk about in their choices.

Choices such as picking this -apparently recurring- image -in the Natalie gallery as well.

It's so weird seeing a change of designs from the original TV anime to this spinoff movie.

Same here. I'm hoping this movie will really salvage them and hoping give a much stronger characterization and insights of the 2 girls. I don't know if they'll go "wink wink nudge nudge" on the yuri aspect.
