Based on the names and character designs I'm beginning to realize this is less a sequel to Ashita no Joe set in the future of that world, but a complete reimaging of the story placed in an alternate setting - trading in contemporary Japan for a cyberpunk dystopia. Regardless, I'm really excited for a fresh take on AnJ, and I'm hoping this series will be characterized by similar social commentary on classism, poverty, and disenfranchised and disillusioned youth in a changing Japan like the original was. Japan's zeitgeist is in a much different place than it was in the 70's, so how they'll update the series' themes and politics to reflect modern Japanese sentiments towards uncertain futures in an increasingly globalized community is going to be really interesting. At least, I hope Megalobox will be ambitious enough to reflect upon what AnJ was and attempt to recreate what it represented to a modern audience. ^^,

Love those visual, but that song.... ooffff. I'm gonna be generous and just assume it's a reference to the original or something.
