I know we're apparently supposed accept that "anime and manga will never be THAT popular", but it always seems like snooty denial to me when at comic cons, a hit like My Hero Academia, outselling traditional superhero comics, gets shoved into the smallest possible room or into an abandoned warehouse last used as a Batman villain hideout, or wherever the hell this was supposed to be.

Superhero movies? Yeah, anime will never be as big as them in America. Although plenty of anime movies outperform superhero movies at the home Japanese box office.

Comics books, though? Manga's been kicking comics ass for ages. It's why Marvel tried the whole Mangaverse thing back in the early 2000s. Don't accept that narrative one bit. My Hero Academia is without a doubt the most popular superhero comic out there. And I have to imagine that ruffles at least a few feathers in the industry.

If you count all the comic books series they have been in since their respective comic book debuts, the 3 most popular comic book superheroes are Superman, Batman, and Spider-Man, respectively.

To be fair, they needed to give Anime Fest @ NYCC some good content, or else there would be no point in having a separate event and charging extra for it.

it would make more sense to compare sales during the English run of MHA.
