How you guys are playing 4k movies. Isn't TV and monitor to play 4k content is way too expensive?

They're quickly becoming the standard. A really good one will cost a lot, but a really good TV will always cost money.

Players are even cheaper. Standard BD players are now even starting to show up weekly at Thrift stores.

There are plenty of cheap 4K TV sets out there. I've seen some 49-55 inch models running in the $350-400 during sales. Some even support Dolby Vision. But yea, you kind of get what you pay for. Many of the ultra cheap ones screens have slower response times, less backlighting, worse build quality, etc, etc. If you are on a tight budget, don't play games on your TV, aren't too picky about quality and just want a big screen with 4K they can work. The same thing goes for 4K players, some are dog slow loading up some have really good image quality some don't, some support Dolby Vision others don't etc, etc. This too requires some research on the buyers part.
