Apparently the LNs have sold over half a million copies in Japan.

The MC here is Very Smugly Confident, he isn't afraid to show off his awesomeness and is shamelessly cocksure while doing so (unlike the usual humbly unassertive types you usually get.) Some LN readers say it's a much better written power fantasy, where everyone gets to shine alongside the MC.

Shu launched the novel series on the Shōsetsu ni Narō website in April 2017.

Well, whaddya know -- I think this is the first Narou anime announcement since Mushoku Tensei. And that means I get to add a row to my handy-dandy spreadsheet for the first time since I started it back in March! Not much to take away from the new addition so far, except that the source material is more recent than any of the other planned or aired Narou anime, by either web or print debut, and the time-to-light-novel-release seems to have been... pretty medium, as these things go? Not crazy fast like FUNA's was, that is. (I got the LN release date from Amazon.co.jp; feel free to let me know if I got it wrong.)

And for anyone who preferred the simplified text version with just the titles and web debuts like I've posted for other announcements, here you go:

Mahouka: Debuted 2008-10-12.
Log Horizon: Debuted 2010-04-13.
Knight's & Magic: Debuted 2010-10-16.
Isekai Cheat Magician: Debuted 2012-04-06.
Re:Zero: Debuted 2012-04-20.
Isekai Izakaya "Nobu": Debuted 2012-10-18.
The Rising of the Shield Hero: Debuted 2012-10-29.
-Mushoku Tensei: Debuted 2012-11-22.
KonoSuba: Debuted 2012-12-20.
Restaurant to Another World: Debuted 2013-01-04.
Reincarnated as a Slime: Debuted 2013-02-20.
Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody: Debuted 2013-03-03.
Isekai Smartphone: Debuted 2013-04-08.
-Eighth Son: Debuted 2013-06-01.
Ascendance of a Bookworm: Debuted 2013-09-23.
Arifureta: Debuted 2013-11-07.
-My Next Life as a Villainess: Debuted 2014-07-06.
If It's for My Daughter, I'd Even Defeat a Demon Lord: Debuted 2014-08-01.
Wise Man's Grandchild: Debuted 2015-01-02.
-So I'm a Spider, So What?: Debuted 2015-05-27.
-Infinite Dendrogram: Debuted 2015-10-10.
-Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?!: Debuted 2016-01-14.
-I'll Max Out VIT: Debuted 2016-06-28.
Demon Lord, Retry!: Debuted 2016-10-10.
-The Misfit of Demon King Academy: Debuted 2017-04-02.
I Want to Eat Your Pancreas: Debuted 20??-??-?? (yep, still clueless, if anyone can find a dead link to the original URL help me out here)

That's six, count 'em, six of these anime that have seen their TV debut since the last announcement -- Wise Man's Grandchild, Demon Lord Retry, UchiMusume, Arifureta, Isekai Cheat Magician, and now Ascendance of a Bookworm. Plus we've got Make My Abilities Average airing tomorrow, after which there'll be only seven left known to be in the works.

Naturally, if I'm missing any data, either anime announcements I overlooked or known upcoming airdates, please let me know!

(Regarding this particular web novel: It's still being posted online, though not with daily updates like in its first year. 97 chapters so far this year, with 279 days since the year began.)

To quote a Redditor's comment on the draw of this series:

spoiler[The entire draw of the LN/Manga is the MC. He is very self aware, cocky, arrogant and ridiculously overpowered. To put it simply, he is not the Demon Lord, he is THE ******* DEMON LORD! Yes I know how stupid and redundant that sentence sounded but that's the tone the story takes. The entire premise is that he is so OP that the very title of Demon Lord was CREATED for him. If you wanna enjoy an absolutely no-**** given MC completely shitting and making a joke out of everything he faces while delivering sick one liners and cool chuuni poses, it's pretty damn fun.]

spoiler[There's also elements of the MC training and powering up his allies, them helping out MC, and a cool bro relationship between MC and a male friend of his.]

Well, they sure have fun to announce second coming of Onii-sama vs. Literally Real Demon King. Now if only they put them both to the one season to let them fight for the title of the most OP main character in academy manga...

One of the most hilariously self-aware but shameless series out there.

Diddo. I discovered this thing as the Manga, i didn't think it was too bad. However, i've not gotten too far into it. So we will see how it comes out.

I just home anime "Advertising the light novel & manga" wont ruin them.

LOL. I was literally reading the manga yesterday to catch up and I get anime adaptation news.

It's ok but I feel like it will get boring fast since the MC is literally unbeatable
