oof...

postponing it would be best option (even if not ideal)

but a scaled down version?
i'd hate to see the loss of $$ for that considering what goes into making the event happen they rely on travelers to make up some of the $$....

Postpone the Olympics for a year. I would hate Japan to totally lose the Olympics, after spending so much money to host them. Doesn't bother me if there is only three years between the Summer Olypmpic hostings.

depending on the country the athletes cant even train due to facility closures.

some teams mentioned folks can't even get tested for doping

makes sense to delay.

for jpn. they need the tourism. im sure they also dont want countries with active cases flying to jpn.

Giving themselves a deadline to make a decision on the Olympics makes sense. The repercussions of whatever they choose are big enough that everyone is going to need time to make their own adjustments. My guess is it'll be postponed. With all the money and materials that go into the facilities, I think they'll decide they can't afford to cancel. A scaled-down version also means they'd lose out on a big influx of tourist money.

It's good to see that all the negative coverage on Gamestop got somewhere. If Best Buy, a place that is known for selling hardware that would help with working from home, is doing curbside service, then Gamestop's excuse that they are essential because they happen to have a bit of computer hardware looks even more like a joke.

The GameStop silliness was indeed real as my daughter found last Friday when purchasing The Witcher for Switch. An employee told her "I don't know who they had to bribe, but we are classified as an essential industry". Whether true or not, that memo was the most stupid idea and apparently they got a lot of negative reaction including a call to boycott. They must be desperate... Confused

Year delay is much better than a total cancellation.
