Higurashi getting 24 episodes. It's crazy how much a concluded series can get that in an era where 24 episodes is only reserved for money makers. That means it must still be popular.

In some way Higurashi is a money maker.
The VN is still getting ports for the new consoles and Deen anime is still talked even after 14 years.

Yes, the VN is great. I am on the last one now “Higurashi When They Cry Hou - Ch.8 Matsuribayashi”. If Higurashi: When They Cry – GOU is a reboot or a sequel I really like how the anime is going. I so glad for another 24 episodes.

Higurashi is still a popular title in the west, especially those who are into the horror genre for anime, as not to many series have managed to make a good horror story work or get as much praise as this one still has.
In jp it is even still more popular with more vn and ports still being kept release to this day, so it is not really surprising it is getting this much.
