I'm a fan of her work (I have all the volumes of Presents and 2 of School Zone. Finding those 2 was a chore in itself and I've resigned myself to the fact I probably will never get the rest of the series...) so I was super excited to see this collection get released.
It's a shame it's so thin but the collection is quite good (though I was kinda irritated Presents was in there purely because I already have it and would've preferred something new, but it makes sense to include it). I think my favourite stories were Lovesickness, which made me want to read more of the haunted examination room stories and uh... I forget the name but the one towards the end with the bullied girl (she was so cute...). I enjoy Kanako's style and how it's this sort of doll like super shoujo style but warped with horror vibes. Sometimes it's really ugly and other times it's really cute. It was also nice seeing another story about the siblings from Presents; it was nice she went back to them. I really hope more of Kanako's works are translated. And I hope one day I get the rest of school zone.. |
