A shame Brazil didn't even give it a chance.

Mush: Well, it's still got key countries to go. And maybe North Americans won't be as protective over it as their Latin neighbours, since it's not that popular here to begin with.

I gotta be honest, whenever I see Nigeria mentioned on this site, it makes me feel somehow.

we call that copium. the budget for the movie was 60 mil. it made 2.4 mil so far. I'd be surprised if it even cuts even. no matter how u look at it it's gonna be considered a flop. |

It seemed really pretentious Toei thought they could turn this into a six film series when they know the lack of interest US audiences have in this franchise. It's too bad since I heard it actually wasn't bad from people who have gotten to see it already.

Not bad if you don't mind a feature film having CW drama-style script/dialog, editing, and effects. Otherwise, no, it was quite bad. It had one or two cool fight scenes, but that can't carry an entire movie. Mackenyu's unfortunately not that strong of a lead actor either. It says something when the most talked about parts of the film are his muscles and shirtless scenes. |

Good thing is there was recently an interview with the director in a latin america SS site and the reported 60 million budget was apparently for a series of films (either 3 or 6 films, most like 3 films.) So this film probably cost around $20-30 million...
Still it is a flop. |

Whatever. The haters also kept Ant-Man 3 profitable.

Live action anime adaption doesn't fair well. More at 9.
Could have seen this coming. More importantly, will this stop Hollywood from thinking anime & maga can be adapted into a live action a la 1:1 without looking like a professional cosplayer convention? I doubt so. |

This movie is mainly Toei's project. Sony "only" acts as co-producer and distribution partner for US and worldwide excluding Japan. |

Also China This had been planned for years and the first announcement of it was from Toei themselves at a convention in Brazil 7 years ago together with the CG reboot and the Saintia Sho adaptation. |
