Cool. I keep meaning to read those books. I guess I'd better bump them up my list before the anime comes out (although I'm sure it'll be a while).

This series is fascinating in that every novel is a different genre. And frequently not the one you think you're reading. There's definitely been some backlash against specific volumes because people bought too hard into the apparent premise and got the rug yanked out from under them, but that's mostly worked for me.
