I've actually been following this show because wizards with a josei demographic sounded intriguing, and I've been meaning to expand my horizons with a surprise shoujo or josei title. But after 7 episodes, this is pretty meh. All the wizards feel so bland as characters and are either goofy or confrontational just for the sake of it. I don't think the main girl is questioning enough of the lore this world supposedly has, given she's the next Great Sage and that her predecessor left all these journals that would probably do well at actually building the world or wizards up, so the audience actually starts to care for anything.
It also occurred to me, last night, to think: how does a reverse-harem property full of bishounen get their voice cast? Looking at the cast list, just now, there are actually some pretty high-profile guys on there. I wonder if they're doing it for the money, or if they believe in the role? Anyway, emotions are running low in this. There are too many wizards to keep track of, none of them are interesting (yet), and the girl is barely interacting with any of them. At least something like Honey Lemon Soda has conflict, and even some positive outcomes. Maybe the video game for this is better? I just feel like a lot of details are missing. |

I didn't even bother sampling this. Some instinct made me think it wouldn't be my cup of tea and Tony K.'s post above just confirms that.

That's been my feeling all along as well. Like, Great Sage does seem to have some powers in this world, but I'm still not at all clear on just what they are, or why she has them. And she hasn't ever questioned it herself, nor had any instruction on the matter, yet when called on to do something, seems to just know what/ how to do it. I also don't get the Great Calamity. They seemed to have summoned her just after it happened, rather than before, and yet they're all on edge anticipating the next one that seems due any minute now. How often does this Great Calamity happen? It's like CPAC, seems like there's one every other week. On a less confusing note, the one wiz who says he designs all their outfits runs around in the most fugly duds ever. I'd rather go sky-clad than let him dress me. |
