Episode 1
I'm a little confused... the MC is having flashes of memories from Earth AND flashes of memories involving the use of magic? Hmmm, okay. Anyway, not sold on this but I'll check out more. |

Basically the same for me. I like that it is a rather brutal world and that survival is anything but certain with a setting that is low/grounded fantasy and is getting explained with decent world building. That aside the animation is average and it does not really surprise in any way. In a calm season that would be enough but yeah....

I wonder what these godstones are? They kill the demi-humans, then extract them from the corpses, and drink the liquid contents. I'm guessing it's like mana or some kind of energy-enhancing substance that gives them special abilities. But then I'm also wondering if every creature in the world has them. So if a demi-human killed a human and extracted their godstone, it'd have the same effect? Then that brings into question the possibility of cannibalism, which by definition and this world's logic would make you stronger, but also probably really crazy at some point.
Anyway, I hope they explain more and set the rules in the next episode or two. |

I'm not sure why this is getting dumped on so hard in both the ratings and comments. It's not the greatest show ever, but it's no worse than a lot of low tier stuff this season and better than most of that class. Like it doesn't have anywhere near the full list of check the boxes tropes of stuff like Healer or Atellier.
I was expecting he'd get into trouble for admitting eating a bunch of godstones, even if to save his life and that they'd be wasted otherwise with no upper class around to hog them. So it was nice there were no repercussions from that. And we got poneglyphs now! Right now my biggest question is how his braids work. It's like five skinny strands of hair suddenly multiply into thick bunches just above the beads. Where is all that extra hair coming from? Is it a weave? |

Episode 2
I don't mind this show but damn there was a lot of exposition in this episode. The whole thing seemed like one long primer on land gods, guardians, the importance of training, etc, etc. Hope future episodes have a better balance of info dump versus drama. |
