LOL, they didn’t even bother to give the main character a prominent spot on the poster.

Older protagonist!
Also the Heroine is, I'm guessing, meant to be representative of a Fantasy version of the Ainu.

Older protagonists in the sense of being 30+ is quite uncommon in many anime, manga, and light/Web novels. That heroine is sexy.

She's 15, Dias is 35, they get married quite early(chapter 3, due to village chief's meddling and her being impressed by Dias' battle skills..). I don't mind that kind of age-gap though..
But you are right, she's lovely. And headstrong.
Edit; Corrected info.

Older characters are actually pretty common maybe you’ve just been reading mostly shounen, so you probably haven’t come across them as much.

Kinda funny how the place is completely empty... except for that one girl.

That's just a misunderstanding from the synopsis, it's her and her whole tribe that lives in hiding there. Officially the population is zero, as Dias' country had conquered those plains and drove out all the indigenous people. The reason there are no communities setup by the government there stems from the fact that conventional crops failed to grow there so colonization efforts failed.
