I learned about this manga by sheer coincidence but now I am going to support it because no one likes it.

The first episode gave me Attack on Titan dejavus due to the miserable state of society and the orphan's state. Still, it felt like the writer really want him to make him as miserable as possible with how even the crush doesn't believe in his innocence and everybody in the town is awaiting to see his execution.
The second episode felt a bit abrupt with how they bring an energy power. I couldn't think of any notable forehsadowing from episode 1. It reminds me of Shaman King where they mix objects with spirits to create the powerful Oversouls. The third episode was quite a change of tone where the miserable state turns into a comedy with poop jokes. Not sure if I will like it but at least Bones' style has me attached

The series feels like it was extracted from the 2000s, it has a distinctive... pre Hueco Mundo Bleach's aroma, but without the annoying screaming that was so popular at the time.
I like it enough.

I was having trouble figuring out what the direction was for the series. The first episode introduced interesting characters only to wash them away. The second episode felt like rewritten Fallout fanfiction. I liked the third episode much more, but got some real Demon Slayer vibes from it. I don't know what the identity of this show is yet, but it seems like it's going the right direction.

It’s too bad that so many people have already written this show off as edgy schlock, and the protagonist as an edge lord. In this episode he already showed way more self awareness and a willingness to change than most actual edge lord characters. He just needs to work on that smile.

It IS edgy. Its just not slop. Its a well executed, slightly more mature, shounen series. If you still have that craving for Soul Eater and Fire Force this series does more than well enough to fulfill that hunger.

Episode 1 has major Attack on Titan vibes with its oppressiveness. Episode 2 goes for a more post-apocalyptic vibe, and Episode 3...feels like what happens if your battle shounen is written by the staff behind Creature Commandos. Even the climax of the plunger scene felt like it was asking for a James Gunn-style needle drop.
It feels like the author is working with different tones for the premise, but is unsure which one fits the story. We left the oppressiveness of the first setting, so maybe the idea was for the garbage land to feel freer in comparison, even with the monsters running around.

I am going to be sincere: our MC is a guy who is too socially inept to smile, can barely look at his crush without self-combusting and defeated a guy with poop and felt terrible afterwards.
I have no idea of how somebody can consider him "Edgy".

People watched the last scene of the first episode with the “I’ll get my revenge on everyone!” speech and assumed this was the next Redo of Healer series, I guess.

that is exactly how the MAL community treated this series as well as touken aniki!
personally, i think that both series are poor man's version of seraph of the end & AoT!
both MCs are too focused on revenge and we all know where that got the MC of the latter series! DEAD AS A DOORNAIL!
hell, i will not be surprise if in the end, he gets the AoT treatment and gets his head cut off by his former crush!
this series needs to focus on what makes it entertaining, and cast aside the drama bs. otherwise it could easily get trapped in doing too much at once and risk becoming another darling in the franxx!

The tonal shift feels like the same one between Suicide Squad and The Suicide Squad. The former being mostly self serious and having a few jokes vs the latter being much more irreverent and honestly better in tune with its emotions despite the same core premise. There’s some jokes in the first episode but it immediately goes to “I want my revenge”. Then the next two episodes have people pointing out that’s kind of dumb as he struggles to adapt to his new environment, and hilarity ensues. It’s incredibly jarring, but it kind of works if you look at the angst solely through our protagonists eyes and how everyone else thinks it’s kind of dumb. Given how he short circuited at the end of the third episode it’s clear that he’s not monochromatic with his emotions either.

Becoming one of the most popular series of the decade and still getting merchandise 6+ years later? There's probably worse fates than being then next DITF

This is shaping up pretty decently. At least the Rudo has stopping shouting most of his lines, except where shouting is expected, and he lets people finish their sentences most of the time. Now that we've gotten a look at a lot more people in action, I'm getting serious Kouta Hirano vibes from the character designs, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Bones is doing a fantastic job of adapting the manga so far.
One boy betrayed by his world, the girl he loved, the loss of his father figure, and cast off like "trash" only to end up in a world where he can use trash to become strong enough to fight and get his revenge. Also cool, madcap, and unhinged vibes.
Enjin fulfilling Katsuyuki Konishi's contractual obligation to play mentor characters.
Yoshitsugu Matsuoka is having fun with Zanka. Imagine, a major battle Shonen character being defeated by poop.
Yumiri Hanamori as Riyo is A+. She's the kind of girl you don't bring home to mom but she'd win over your mom anyways and just loves hair.
I forgot Semiu was introduced reading a porn mag but all power to her.
The CG for the Trash Beasts is working for me so far. The action is also pretty smooth and dynamic, which is a plus.

that maybe true, but it still wont chance the fact that the second cour of the anime completely destroyed the entire series as a whole with its only saving grace being that the manga was by far better than the anime!
which is what this series needs to avoid the same pitfalls that sunk the anime version of DITF!
luckily , its doing fairly well in avoiding this and is focusing on what makes the series interesting!
