Oh no, I don't like hearing more bad news coming out of this industry. I hope he'll be OK, this is so scary.

God, how awful. Mike is one of the pillars of the anime dubbing community. Sending all of my best wishes for his fight.

Brutal. A shame when these sort of things follow each other so fast.

Agreed. The dude's a legend from the early days even to recent shows, praying for a miracle.

He's the original Funimation ADR Director, and one of the most well known as well. I hope he pulls through, it must be a horrible health condition to have.

God, this just sucks. He’s such a mainstay of the Western anime dubs industry. Everything but his date of death is in this article.
Here’s hoping the cancer lets him survive as long and as comfortably as it’s able.

Heartbreaking One of the best actors and directors in the anime scene. It’s a very aggressive cancer. I hope he gets the best treatment available.

Of course he's not dead yet, but a diagnosis of glioblastoma is extremely shocking and saddening news, and it's one of those things where you start making preparations to live as comfortably as you can, for the remainder of your time.
Just looking it up, most people who get diagnosed with this type of brain cancer, only live another 18 months tops. It seems to be extremely rare that people have surgery to successfully remove this and go on to continue living normal lives. Especially given Mike McFarland has already had brain surgery to remove the initial cancer tumor.
I really do pray the best for him, but this is such a sad thing to happen to anyone.

I'm getting way too many flashbacks from Rachael Lillis' situation here, especially with him moving into a nursing home. Between Rachael, Chris Ayres, Billy Kametz, and James Carter Cathcart, cancer has really done a number on the US dubbing community the last few years, and I'm praying for a miracle with Mike. By all accounts, he seems like a genuinely nice human being that has left a positive impact on many people. He doesn't deserve this. The fact that he's voiced so many iconic characters and directed some of the best dubs of the last couple decades is only icing on the cake. I've listened to his voice as Master Roshi since I was 6.

^I hate to bring conjecture to the conversation but most of these people are from south TX right? It's called the cancer coast in the area. I hate to think of it but I wonder if it could be related to all these people in this industry.
Praying and wishing him the best possible recovery for his situation right now. He is a pillar of the anime dubbing community as others have said.
I am rewatching FMA Brotherhood which he had such a big role in helping translate and dub and I am falling in love with Jean Havoc again, of course. Mike McFarland is such a legend. I know this isn't a memorial or anything but I will always remember his hard work and charisma in the industry.

Terrible news, especially at his age. Just heartbreaking.
My old man passed away from a Glioblastoma ~11 years ago. He lasted 9 months following surgery. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.
Hope for the best for him and the family.
