Checking out the demo and seems they've done a lot since the original game. Flying around in power armor, collecting loot, that works pretty well. The moment to moment gameplay is about what I expected, zipping around, swapping between weapons depending on the situation, that's really fun. The sandbox definitely isn't for show and it gets the unlocking fast travel points and finding stuff to gather gets the appeal of that. You get that little tingle when you find a new gathering point or location
What really sells it is how you customize your suit. With a game like this you really want to recreate the idea you're tinkering with and tuning up a complex machine and that's what excels at. You have six weapon slots and five different armor slots to mess with. You're choosing between light, medium, and heavy armor types which not only affect movement, but also how much memory you're dealing with so what weapons you equip, do you go for a better piece of armor statistically or maybe the one with slightly lower stats but has an augment slot, and that's not even getting into what sorts of stuff you use for fusion that scrambles your genes for combat abilities. All I got out of it was some freaky eyes like Geralt from The Witcher but also got this simple but effective launcher to ground smash move. Also interesting it brings weight into with increasing damage the heavier you are, but also recovery time.
All in all, definitely has my attention and keeping an eye out come launch. Oh, and you can ride cyberhorses. Not practical, but who cares, cyberhorse!
