I enjoy this series but I definitely consider it middle of the road in terms of quality. It’s not terrible but not good enough to be the next big thing. It’s biggest issue is definitely the story’s inability to find a formula that works and actually stick with it. The story constantly turns to one direction only to quickly swerve away to something new when it doesn’t work out.
It’s enjoyable enough but unless it gets a fantastic anime adaptation (the kind that elevates the source material) I doubt anyone will remember it. |

For a minute, I misread the review title "Kill Blue" as Kill Bill, and I thought to myself "wait, when did Tarantino allowed one of his film to be adapted into a manga?" So, I apologize for the confusion (and a bit off topic here).

I've generally enjoyed this series and I'm sticking with it to the end, but once the "Unicorn" challenges to marry Noren became the primary narrative loop, the premise started wearing thin. So did my patience when Juzo and his latest opponent had a full page conversation in the middle of a flying jump kick from one horse to another. Over the past year, there have been so many sudden plot turns that it's really felt like Fujimaki was told he wasn't being cancelled, but he better wrap it up sooner rather than later.

It never quite hit the highs for me compared to Kuroko where I could reread it for so many times... it's kinda the same with the creator of KHR. The art skill is there, but I wish they were paired up w a writer

This review feels well-timed with the rumored anime announcement.

There was a period when I followed this series weekly. I genuinely thought this series as interesting.
But for some reason, maybe due to similarities with Sakamoto Days, it changed themes midway. Then the story development became too ridiculous for me to follow. I quite liked the early chapters though. |

I picked this series up recently and I'm about fifty chapters in. It's been fine so far, but I could definitely see the premise wearing a little thin after a while.

Well, I like it, but more reading it in Manga Plus that buying the physical volumes.
I think it's funnier when it focus into "old guy back to school" than "Sakamoto Days meets Conan". But mixing comedy with action is not an easy feat and so far, just Yozakura Family and, specially, Witch Watch have mastered the formula. |
