Nioh is more of an action game than a souls game, especially Nioh 2. You can't even compare it to souls slop where the gameplay consists of circle strafing an enemy while holding your shield up and then you hit him once.

I like Nioh but I will not pretend that most battles in the game against non boss enemies and the bosses themselves isn’t just blocking or rolling around until your enemy leaves themselves open.
To say nothing of the fact that unlike most action games you can’t take on multiple enemies at once.

"Getting Stomped into the Ground for 10 Minutes Straight"
Or what we call a "sample" in the Nioh series. Good to see it keeps up its spinebreaking challenge, and I'm intrigued by the dual character mechanic.
