Sure I'll triple dip Discotek. Just wished this came first because I knew they did the 4k scan in the first place but I assumed they did not bother with a 4K release because there was not enough improvement to release it in 4k. Glad I was wrong. Still bummed that I might have to still keep the other discs because some of the extras won't be there leaving me having to make concessions with purchases with the limited space I have. I have to use tree bookshelfs for my disks now. Edit: Thinking about it, it would have been great for it to get re-dubbed like Castle of Cagliostro did.

Was funny seeing some people think Discotek's hint about this was about Turn A. Sorry, Gundam is still eternally locked in distribution hell

So does the Gray Side/Blue Side (aka Uncivil Wars) OVA still not have a license rescue then?

Whoa OK, I might hold off on the regular 1080p blu-ray just to see if there's any difference in the visual quality, and to see if the 4K UHD BD has any exclusive/new bonus features not found in the regular blu-ray.

I might "double dip" on this (does it really count as double-dipping if it's a new format? I've already bought Project A-Ko three times if I include the subtitled VHS tape and the DVD re-release with the hypersaturated colours roughly two decades before I bought the Discotek BluRay), but not until I actually have something that plays 4K BluRays.

I might get an XBox Series X with an optical drive (I know they're hard to find new but I'm intending on buying used) for the release of Forza Horizon 6 next year and, if I do. I'll probably buy a few of my absolute favourite movies on 4K but, even then, I'll still be watching them on a 720p screen so the extra resolution on the disks will be moot and the main reason I'd be buying them would simply be for futureproofing should I ever get a 4K screen (which are very hard to find under 40", for various reasons, I don't want a TV larger than about 32").

Unless you're sitting really close, 4K on a 32" screen won't be distinguishable from 1080p. I think you'd have to look into computer monitors rather than HDTVs.

Well, yeah, that's the thing, I'd rather sit close to a smaller screen than further away from a larger screen for vision reasons (and also because I never liked the idea of having a television absolutely dominate a room unless I have a dedicated home theatre room, which isn't in the cards).

Those were caught up in licensing limbo due to the company that was the main producer for them, Nextart, going out of business long ago. It was only in the past couple of years that they finally became available via streaming over in Japan, so it's entirely possible that Discotek will one day bring those over, too, but I imagine they'd want to see if they can be remastered into HD first, as I imagine the JP streams right now probably are just based on whatever existing footage they had at the moment.

Honestly, considering how Discotek hyped this up as a "big big" announcement, I was a little underwhelmed that it was just Project A-Ko in 4K. It's definitely really cool, but nothing that really deserved its own isolated announcement, since the whole allure of A-Ko being remastered from the film was already done a few years back. If it was Project A-Ko the VS/Uncivil Wars then I could have at least understood that being its own isolated announcement.
