So, they couldn't get Emily Blunt to reprise her role for this anime film dub nor pull any stunt casting as in getting some of the actors from the live-action films to "reprise" their role or cast them as different characters for this one. Well, at least this film has a dub but not the way I wanted the cast to be. |

This is an anime film, not a Hollywood blockbuster. Why wouldn't they use voice actors experienced in dubbing? Do people really want overpaid actors taking jobs from working class VO artists now? |

OK, I don't know how long you've been in the fandom. But you do know about the live-action film the anime was based on. Also, GKIDS has casted celebrity casts for English dub in the past, so for this film it would've made sense given that the anime was based on the same material that was adapted into the live-action Hollywood film. Also, the anime dubbing industry has been doing stunt casting for their dub for quite a while now like Sakamoto Days, and other anime titles. I mean how do you not know of the dubbing industry engaging in stunt casting and also casting celebrity actors/actresses, and voice actors that don't do anime dub. |

I'm really happy an anime voice actor is in the lead role instead of a big name celebrity, especially with Stephanie Sheh voicing the main protagonist. I like her roles in the Naruto series as Hinata and Rin, as well as Zhu Li from The Legend of Korra.
Now I just hope GKIDS doesn't just play it in theaters for like two or three select days and stop showing in theaters everywhere if you missed it. |

There is no reason why the English dub would have the same cast as Edge of Tomorrow. That was more of a based on adaptation, where this is more a straight forward adaptation. You would be getting the cast to play different characters than what they played in the Edge of Tomorrow.

Hm, actually, Scott Pilgrim takes Off proves that you can get the live-action cast to reprise their roles for the anime. But for this one, I would've wanted Emily Blunt to reprise her role as Rita for this dub because it would've made sense from a marketing and also for fans of the live-action film. I know it's an adaptation, but I don't see anything wrong with having Emily Blunt reprising her role as Rita. This is not to disrespect Stephanie Sheh, I liked her but given this is a adaptation of the source material that was previously adapted into live-action movie from 2014, I thought it would've made sense to have gotten Emily Blunt to reprise her role. Do you understand where I come from on this Marshal? |

The difference between Scott Pilgrim and All You Need Is Kill is the Scott Pilgrim anime was a continuation of the movie adaptation while All You Need Is Kill is based off the original source material so it's an entirely different canon from the Hollywood movie hence they're using the Japanese title and not "Edge of Tomorrow." Also we don't know the circumstances behind the casting like maybe GKids tried to get the original cast back but they were too busy with their own projects to make it work Like Tom Cruise is already involved in another movie that's coming out next year.

Actually for Scott Pilgrim Takes Off anime, it's an adaptation to the graphic novel and it's not a sequel or tie to the live-action film. If you looked at the Wikipedia entry for the anime ONA, and I'll quote:
And the All You need is Kill anime film and according to the Wikipedia entry page on that one:
So you see, All You need is Kill anime film and Scott Pilgrim Takes Off ONA are both alternate re-telling adaptation of their source materials and not tie-in or connected to their American/Hollywood live-action adaptations, and yet one (Scott Pilgrim) was able to get the live-action cast to reprise their roles for the anime, while the anime film (All you Need is Kill), GKIDs couldn't get Emily Blunt to reprise her role as Rita for the English dub, and maybe get some of the actors/actresses from the live-action film to either reprise or cast as different or adjacent characters close to their live-action counterpart in a form of stunt casting. You're correct that we may never know why GKIDs couldn't get Emily Blunt to reprise her role for the anime film, but there was a missed opportunity to get her and several of the casts from the live-action film to have reprise or casted adjacent characters for the anime film. If Scott Pilgrim anime series can get the live-action casts to reprise their roles, then it should've been possible for Emily Blunt and other cast of the 2014 live-action film to reprise or cast adjacently. And I want to remind all of you we're living in an era where stunt casting in anime where it's not directed by Miyazaki (or created by Studio Ghibli), or Mamoru Hosoda are becoming sort of the new norm like you got Channing Tatum voicing a character in a Demon Slayer film. |
