It's always interesting what they bring up as topics but yes, shame on Capcom. Now we're getting a new voice for mega again.

Mega Man dubs are Mega Man dubs, but I got really annoyed with Capcom about this when I learned that all the Canadian actors that have been in RE since the PS1 games were replaced with randos just to avoid dealing with unions. Really scummy behavior and completely drags down the games for no reason.

My only knowledge/experience with SAG-AFTRA was the Genshin debacle so my experiences with them are pretty sour. I play with Japanese voices anyway so it doesn't bother me if MegaMan has a new voice. All the best MegaMan games have no voice acting at all anyway.

this. think only Megaman games that benefited from voices were the battle network games as it was heavily story based.

and yeah sag-aftra is a menace (they harmed so many Va's during the Hoyoverse bit including the reveal that they rejected a deal that the actors were never even told of)

There's like only two of these that have voice lines at all.

Sucks for Ben and them but seeing as this series has had voice casts as inconsistent as Resident Evil (and Street Fighter to a lesser extent), I don't see this causing much damage.

The most consistent voice cast Mega Man had was the X games done in Calgary by Blue Water from 2004 (Command Mission & X8) to 2006 (Maverick Hunter X) and that ended when Capcom stopped relying on Canada and had ZX Advent dubbed in Japan with the horrible X7 cast.

Every time Capcom gets a W with their games, they do something else to earn an L.

Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

Boo on Capcom, but at the same time, Ben was horribly miscast as Mega Man anyway. He's a great actor, but man, could they not have gotten someone who actually sounds like a kid?

I tend to defer to the unions in cases like this since it’s only reliable way for actors to get protections. If the actors aren’t getting protections, something always seem off.

I didn't even realize that this game was gonna have voice acting but dammit Capcom, it probably wouldn't even cost that much, and we all know you're not some little indie studio that's hard up for cash. But no, gotta pinch pennies and pay some non-union guy chump change. Rolling Eyes

Didn't Ben Diskin only play Megaman like...once? I don't feel like this is a loss of an established actor for the character.
Capcom has always been VERY flakey about their voice actors and shaking off the union.

That's technically true, but also Mega Man 11 was the best-selling game in the series by a good margin and had the most voice acting out of any game in the original series, so it's still a notable loss.

It's also notable that MM11 was a union project and Capcom had no problems with it back then, so the fact that they're absolutely refusing to hire union workers for the next game, even when they've offered to work for lower-than-usual rates, is pretty fishy.

I'm pretty certain that honor goes to Powered Up on the PSP because unlike 11, that game had Roll, Protoman & it's robot masters as unlockables and they had their own bits of dialogue in each story mode.

If we're talking most prolific voice that would be Akiko Kimura who voiced Rockman.exe in both the games and the 200+ episode anime + movies. She's the most prolific voice for the character. hat's the most the character has ever spoken or needed to speak really.
