An anime about girls drinking all kinds of alcohol and things possible being a bit yuri at times is on the tin and the premiere was very much just that. I like it enough to want to see more. The presentation is charming, the girls seem like fun characters and it is always refreshing to be beyond high school setting wise. Seeing lots of drinks on display is not a bad thing either. On a side note: why is Aoi Yukimura from Yama no Susume in this? |

After the first episode I am trying to figure out if the focus is on trying out alcohol, or if it is more about a bunch of thirsty lesbians.

While I'm a big fan of shows beyond the high school setting, this does feel very high school adjacent. Like it would have been just another high school show, but they needed to be old enough to drink, so everyone got bumped up to college instead. |

The animation sure took a hit this week. It is not so much that it was bad but that there were a heck of a lot of shots with blank faces and such to make it easier to animate. Even the detailed sections felt like a bit of a downgrade. The drinking and having fun was amusing this week. The visit to the liquor store was interesting and makes me wonder if I should visit one. The train trip was hectic and the clothes shopping plus drinking seems like a risky combination. Drunk Botan can also be risky. @TJ_Kat it felt a bit more like past high school this week. |

Did it ever. When new-girl was crouching down, it took me a minute to realize she was wearing sandals because her legs and feet were just blocks. |

No idea if it is true or not but supposedly the team for each episode is free to go with the art style they want to showcase. I can personally believe it since this week was another departure compared to the previous two weeks. I am not sure if I liked the change but the listening to a record bit was trippy for sure. Ibuki surprising Botan for once with being assertive was a fun moment. |

I actually really dug the minimalist art style of this episode and it thought it looked pretty cute.

This show is fascinating to me. And yeah, I also heard that the team for each episodes had a lot of freedom for the styles. More than the minimalist animation style this episode, the directing was also so interesting. This isn't even just yuri, this was straight up queer indie cinema. They even shoved a quick little doomed yuri short story in the ED. I cannot wait to see where they go next.

Episode 3 felt a lot like something from Studio SHAFT, so much so that I was expecting some sort of contribution from a SHAFT veteran, but I have not been able to find any real connection.

I found the animation very distracting. Which probably made me extra irritable at the completely wrong way to drink absinthe. Ibuki's supposed to be some kind of alcohol snob, even if she didn't have a fountain or spoon, she should have at least mixed in the sugar and water and not served it straight.

The 4th episode went back to the style of the first episode. It resulted in some truly beautiful shots. The shrine visit in particular looked stunning. There was a surprising amount of relationship progression with Botan being more daring than ever and this time it was without alcohol involved. Kanade does not seem to stand much (if any) of a chance in comparison. The Aoi and Hinata cameo was a surprise but after a little search it became clear that part of the studio/team worked on two seasons of Encouragement of Climb. I suppose I should have caught on given how much Ibuki looks like Aoi. |

Some of the shots this week were magical. That segment at the bar oozed vibes and that bit in the field of flowers was something else. I would have liked for the visit to the bar to have been a bit longer though. Shame on the person who called Ibuki out on her hiccuping, she has not forgotten about it at all and it will take a lot to have her relax while drinking with others. |

There are some times that this show feels shockingly intimate.

It truly is a shame not a lot of people are talking about this show, because it's probably my second or third favorite this season. This episode was gorgeous, heartbreaking, and had some amazing directing.
