Still think this should be co-released with the manga that's in serious need of license-rescuing--or they should state somewhere on the blu-ray that the story continues in the manga for anyone that wants to or is able to track it down. That's screamingly important to know, considering the anime stops on a depressing note that slugs you in the face with its bleakness right before it cuts to the final credits.

AnimEigo doesn't license manga, so that wouldn't be possible.

Didn't mean to indicate it had to be Animeigo--just that someone should license-rescue the manga and/or the blu-ray should mention that the manga (and story's extension) existed.

I had mixed feelings about this mini-series, but the ED song is beautiful. I have not read all of the manga but I recall reading the manga's ending and being under the impression that it doesn't actually conclude anything that was shown in the anime.

If I'm not mistaken, it sounds like it has all the extras the Central Park Media DVDs had and some Japanese extras too? That's good news.

Not quite. The anime previews the next storyline at its end. That story plays out in full in the manga, and the plot continues and reaches an ending. There are details that perhaps could've used further explanation, but the original manga definitely reaches a conclusion.
After that (and after the anime), there was a one volume sequel, Alien Nine Emulators, which also wraps up. And then Alien Nine Next, another sequel, which the author released as doujinshi...now that never properly finished, as far as I know.

One of my most awaited releases. Been hearing about this blu-ray for awhile.

I honestly don't know I feel about this, I like the show but I love the third episode's "next time" segment and the fourth episode's finale of "what's next" clips which seem to be presented as a fevered daydream.
I like my washed out, low res DVD of it as it adds to the overall feel of what the show was trying to convey: people's inability to nail down, once and for all, what NOW is. And checking the dates to confirm what I suspect, this is of course the 25th anniversary.
