Can't believe the Tifa rumors/leaks rumors were true. Honestly, I don't mind seeing Tifa in SF6, I'd say she's the equivalent to the recent anime Guest Fighters in other fighting games (Lucy, Kenshiro, Yujiro), but it seems that most fighting game fans wanted her to appear in Tekken, since most felt she was a better fit in Tekken, whatever that means.
Speaking as someone more in contact with Street Fighter's Latin American fanbase, it seems Tifa's inclusion has been received with mixed opinions, it doesn't help that Final Fantasy VII itself is not very popular in LatAm compared to the rest of the world, so not a lot of players have that much attachement to Tifa. But who knows, maybe Tifa's inclusion will boost FFVII popularity across a different demographic, aside from Maximillian Dood, I don't know if there's a huge overlap between Street Fighter and Final Fantasy fans
As for the new characters, I always welcome new characters, though I really wanted Makoto back

I'm not against the new characters (Bosch was cool in story mode and Yasmine looks nice), but at the terrible cadence of 4 characters a year I don't think it's a great idea to have a season just be them and Tifa

I really liked the animation in the trailer, Tifa looked very good in it.

I guess Remake Tifa has replaced the original for everything now.

I'm tempted to buy it for the Final Fantasy character(s), as I love crossover stuff like that, but holy crap is the pricing insane. $30 for four characters, or $50 if you want more than just the one costume with those four character. Bonkers.

Why would they use the orignal Tifa who’s not the current Tifa?

That’s like complaining about Sega using the Sonic Adventure Era Robotnik in crossover media instead of the Sega Genesis era Robotnik. When the former is the current version of the character.

Edit: I was tired when I wrote and botched that example Insomnia sucks.

Whenever somebody complains about Remake Tifa or they say they "miss" O.G. Tifa, what they actually mean is they just miss her cartoonishly over-inflated honker badonkers. Literally the only thing that's changed is she's slightly more realistically proportioned, and wears a sports bra, which makes perfect sense for a martial artist.

Yeah I’ve been over the “why do they keep putting ugly women who are’t ugly” debate in video games for quite some time now.

People always focus on her chest but the real tragedy is they covered up her legs. Original design is better, sorry not sorry. I bet if Capcom added the Adi Shankar version of DMC characters to this people would be more willing to drop the newer = better defense.

Counterpart, none of this matters one single iota and character wise Remake Tifa is no different from the original game's Tifa.

If the entire basis of your point is "she wears black stockings now" then you have no point.

You clearly haven't played both games. All the characters are written and act differently between the original game and the remake which makes sense as they are completely different games and have different scenarios and events unfolding out. Tifa is more meek and softer in the remake compared to how she was in the original. One just has to point to the way Tifa and Aerith act towards one another in the remake series compared to the original game to showcase how different both characters are. If you like the remake more just say that.

Pretty sure it was related to the characters’ appearance not characterization.

Which even then is a whole other story between localization and what not.
