I think the AI thing was an experiment rather then a shortcut, and Zun has a mostly negative stance on it.
Anyway, even when I get a bit tired of the main series. There are good fangames coming out every year. So I keep being a fan. |

My favorite Touhou AMV is Vernal Phantasm: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dBYSUFDdG-I I can’t find it now, but a doujin group got Mai Nakahara to voice Reimu in their Touhou animation project (with a teasing “Yukari is 17” at the end). |

I can't clear Scarlet Devil on Hard but I did beat Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony and wow what a fun vania-like. I am thrilled about this remake, EoSD was my first game and so to get to play it without all the patches n stuff yahooo! This Nintendo Direct (Japan edition) did light a fire in me. |

I remember when the Pop Team Epic manga started becoming a thing, I had at first assumed someone was making weird adaptations of the Chen four-koma comics replacing Chen with some random schoolgirl. I had no idea that it was bkub moving on to their own thing after having become famous for Chen's "honk honk" comic
Another thing we owe to Touhou: the existence of Fumos. Sure, plenty of other franchises have Fumos, but Fumos became famous through the Touhou characters getting turned into cute marketable plushies with smug expressions. Now plenty of other franchises get fumos, and some folks even make their own off-brand fumos for Vtubers and the like. But it all came from Reimu and Marissa. Man, I hope I can get a Tewi Fumo someday... |
