We all know that some of the Japanese animation released here would give the conniptions to the folks at the National Organization for Women (NOW).
Knowing how contentious activist groups can be, is it possible they are, at least, keeping a file on Anime?

I hope not, I love my harem anime and they need to understand some of us guys are losers and can't get girlfriends in real life ^^v. I don't really see this as that much of a threat though because it is not from the US. Also if they try to go after the companies realesing the dvd's all the company would have to do is say that if no american company picks it up then more people will download it with will result in a loss of money and there for NOW would be promoting piracy.

I can't help but feel they should have much, much better targets to pick out than anime. I mean, if that's the best NOW can do, then their organization really has sunk to new lows. Such a disappointment...

Although I'm fairly sure the OP wasn't really being serious to begin with and I'm dubious about how long this thread will remain unlocked, I'd like to add a few thoughts. If NOW did go after certain non-feminist friendly anime series, I think it would act as a catalyst for other groups to start doing the same thing. The main reason that anime hasn't been targeted already is that it's not something that those in charge of such groups would know about.
As much as I'd like to see anime increase in popularity, I'd prefer the extremists on both sides not be aware of it's existence.

Last time I checked, their political platform focuses on: Advancing Reproductive Freedom, Promoting Diversity & Ending Racism, Stopping Violence Against Women, Ensuring Economic Justice, Winning Lesbian Rights, and Achieving Constitutional Equality.
Uh... which one does anime fall under again? What's funny is that some anime could be viewed as supporting lesbian rights...

The keyword here is "possible," meaning until we see actual proof or something, this doesn't seem like a viable discussion and is just a lot of speculation. Locking it.
