I just watched the first episode of it and really like it and was wondering if anyone has licensed it yet, because i would really like to be able to get a dvd copy sometime in the near future.

I'd say an announcement should come no later than Summer 2004... but c'mon, it's virtually _guaranteed_ that someone will license it.. and that someone (who owns the manga and the first TV series) will almost definately be ADV.
They may have contractual obligations to wait until the series is released in Japan (which is one of the reasons for significant delays in production and release in the States) before announcing it domestically... but c'mon. ADV owns FMP. ADV owns the FMP manga. What are the odds they don't (or won't, in the near future) own FMP2?

I am sort of confused about the order of things.
Did the manga come before the first season, or was it the other way around for this one. I like ADV, I use to not like them a year ago, cause of the eps count on each dvd but there getting much better.

Wow, I've only just recently watched through episode 8 of the first season, good to know there's another season waiting for me by the time I finish the first.

Wha...? Well...that's...interesting. So, what is the second season about? *Unconcerned with Spoilers*
That's okay, though. The first season is looking to be worth the purchase...so far.

That's okay, though. The first season is looking to be worth the purchase...so far. | Its just a series of one shot eps filled with the huge running gag about Sosuke and how everything is from a military standpoint (ie the letter in his shoelocker must be a bomb or Chidori is missing so someone must have kidnapped her or she stepped on a mine at the beach).
I dont think it connects with anything from season one beyond the Characters hence the full title Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu!

Yeah, I've heard FMP Season 2 referred to as "Fuluffu", which is romanized "fluff". Cute nickname and probably appropriate.

Sosuke has apparently developed a advanced combat power suit disguised inside a theme park costume of Bantu-san. All the power armor can say is fumoffu. Its pretty hilarious seeing this bantu-san wielding weapons and engaged in combat.

Sosuke's status as a hardcore "Military Maniac" and being almost completely unfamiliar with social situations of people his age might bring a good amount of comedy to the first season (so far), but somehow I don't see it carrying an entire show...unless the writing was just godawfully outstanding.
Now, I'm just hoping that season one had a good ending with decent closure so I won't be mad about season two not being a continuation. Sounds somewhat similar to the alternating histories in the different Tenchi series.
Frosted, FMP (Full Metal Panic, as mentioned above) is a...well...it's a Mecha show, a comedy, a drama, and a romance...I think. I've only watched through episode 8. Read the review here on ANN, which describes it well. It's a nicely realized conglomerate of a lot of things, and will apparently be having its fair share of "Okay, wtf?" moments.

The writing is VERY good.
It really depends on your sense of humor, but if you go into the show not expecting high art as far as storytelling, you might walk away from this one thinking it's one of the best slapstick animes ever.
IMO, it's that good.
