Are there anime series just for kids that can be avoided from being heavely edited and getting changed background music when they're shown on TV? I think these shows can be shown on network TV with minimum edits:
Saint Tail
Tiny Snow Fairy Sugar
Someday's Dreamers
Angelic Layer
Full Moon wo Sagashite (once it gets licensed)
*some people from the Org might recognize this thread so I'm sorry if this is a repeat*

Eh, the reason 4Kids and FUNImation and the like passed on those titles in the first place** is that they don't have the same level of merchandising potential as Yu-Gi-Oh or Pokémon.
Well, perhaps some of those titles have about the same merchandising potential as Sailor Moon, but, in the United States, Sailor Moon was a big flop in syndication and didn't get much of an audience outside the anime fandom niche until Cartoon Network picked it up, and, even then, Sailor Moon isn't remotely as big a merchandising phenomena as Yu-Gi-Oh or Pokémon is.
**At least for TV... I don't feel like checking to see right now if FUNI's the company releasing any of those titles on DVD for the anime fandom niche.

Don't say that as though it's a shocking revelation... merchandising is where the bulk of the profits lie for children's entertainment. And it's the same in Japan too, but there the market is more attuned to the more esoteric variety of merchandising spin-offs which go beyond the usual toys, games, t-shirts and posters.
Also, with Someday's Dreamers specifically, the witchcraft might be a little too blatant for North American children's television.

Actually, Sailor Moon did become really big. If you show someone a picture from an anime series, they'll immediately say "Sailor Moon".
Overally, Sailor Moon is a very good series for kids. The cuts by Dic were kinda unnecessary, but the storyline still remain intact in my opionion.

I'm not saying Sailor Moon's obscure, but its popularity is just a drop in the bucket, or, maybe, to be more fair, "splash in the bucket", compared to the popularity of Pokémon (at its height) or Yu-Gi-Oh, and it wasn't popular at all until it hit CN, unlike here in Canada where it's been popular from day one on YTV.

Pokemon would probably be a great series without edits for kids to watch.

Angelic Layer... I think they could get away with no edits at all if it weren't for one little thing: The fighting dolls are called "Angels." I see a nation made up of mainly Christians getting really hyped out over that.

I'm currently planning to make a a bill called the "Cultural Protection Act" that will make sure that the only thing that gets changed is the voice acting and the content itself. So the only thing that gets edited is the content only, not the stroyline or anything else.

Its a good show but i dont think most children are going to get the whole scope of whats going on. Unlike the other shows mentioned well except Full Moon I dont think that would get a Tv run anytime soon come on first episode "hey little girl your going to die soon" I doubt the network censors would let that one fly Its a good show but i doubt any network has the stones to show it uncut in a childrens time slot well maybe on cable.

don't forget the Miyazaki animes.....
.....I think Castle of Cagliostoro can get by without edits (based on what I remember in watching the show)...I don't think its as "controversial" as the TV series

I don't like that idea at all i'm sorry to say. If they can't change the content then most anime wont be played on tv. You need to get over little edits, because it's really helping bring anime into the mainstream, you can still buy un-edited dvds. You shouldn't worry about minor edits, you can just not watch them, just about all the anime on tv, would be taken off the air, except for pay channels if your bill passed. I'm sure I would never vote for a thing like that.

I believe it was that episode with Porygon which caused seizures.
