Yuuichi ends up with Ayu at the end of the Kanon 2006 show but I know that anime based off on visual novels/H-games/dating sims will add/do things that happen differently in the game (that is, they do add/do things to the story). So my question is this: Does the fact Ayu and Yuuichi end up together go in accordance to the game? That is, I know with dating sims they have different characters the player can form and relationships with and the endings the player could wind up with this or that character. That is, the player could end up with one character in Ending A and another in Ending B.

I believe that in the game, you basically got to go through one character's arc and get one of several endings. In order to see each character's arc, you would have to play through it multiple times. As it was a erogame, each arc had the potential to end in some hankypanky. However, I'm not sure how much romance was involved.
I'm under the impression that the KyoAni adaptation was pretty faithful with each character's arc and there wouldn't have been any more real romance for each girl in the game than in the series. In other words, there would be no happily ever after loveydovey endings for Makoto, Mai, or Shiori
However, I'm really vague on what happened with Nayuki in the game. I heard that a "Nayuki ending" or arc was mutually exclusive to an Ayu ending, hence why Nayuki gets little focus in the anime. But I've also heard that she doesn't have much of an arc in the game anyway, so maybe what we see in Kanon 2k6 in the later episodes during Ayu's arc is all she really had. But as I said, I'm unclear on that as I'm only familiar with the game through what I hear from others.

IIRC there was no ero version of Kanon (although I may be thinking of Clannad). There were definitely non-ero versions available at any rate - I have the PSP version and there are no ero games for Sony consoles.

Nope, it's the other way around. Clannad is the only Key game to be animated so far that doesn't have an adult version, while Kanon was Key's first ero-game (and game in general) after their team split off from Tactics. An all ages version of Kanon was released for PC and PS2 some time after the adult version came out. Same thing happened for Air as well, though I don't know about any of their games after Clannad.
(Edited for dumb grammar errors and some additions)

Like EngrishFan said, it was Clannad that didn't have an ero version at all. Kanon, like most popular erotic visual novels, did get non-ero release (or releases, I should say).
But this just goes to prove that the fact that you can have sex with the girl has little bearing on what kind of ending she can get or whether the main character has a real romantic/dating relationship and can 'end' with her.

I like that aspect personally, it's the reason I decided to aquire the Tsukihime visual novel game; in order to explore the other character arcs of the game besides Arcuaid's and get the whole story. I'm quite glad that I did. Not for the ero in particular though that wasn't half bad either.
