My friend wants to borrow my fan translated Tenjou Tenge manga. He wants to know how is this manga rated. I told him that I think the manga is excellent, but he wants a second opinion. So I told him to read this thread for a second opinion.

Read the first volume, it totally bored me. A standard shonen "guy wants to get stronger, faces hardships, kicks ass, hot chicks who flash panties" manga. The writting isn't that great, and the characters are pretty typical of the genre. Nice art though.

The only reason I pushed myself through Tenjou Tenge was the art. The way it starts out bored the heck out of me, and I can only take so much shonen with lack of an intresting story. However people assured me that it gets a really good story around volume 6.... so I read that far into it, and I did started liking the story that popped up around then.

Yeah, I suppose this title is good if you enjoy fighting and boobies. But I'm not about to plow through 5 volumes of that just to get to the "good story."

It's a fairly unoriginal story, but the art is excellent... the art is really what sucked me in, and the story does get a lot better around vol 6. That's about the point where the actual plot really gets revealed, and the story becomes better than DBZ with boobs...
I like it, but it does take a while to really get going. |
