Do you have restrictions we should keep in mind such as religious references, violence, or nudity?

Rurouni Kenshin.
It gives historically accurate information about Meiji Japan which is good for learning and it's exciting enough to told a childs imagination at the same time. It's a good choice. |

Instead of manga, how the about the book Bill Clinton: My Life.
A lot of manga has too much violent and boobies. 15-18, that would mean they're in high school right? Last edited by darkhunter on Wed Sep 01, 2004 11:18 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Thats a bit of a broad request. Could you be more specific?
But look at what is popular generally. Also consider that many people in the class will not be familiar with manga (Im assuming). Chobits is a good starter, as is Rurouni Kenshin. The thing that started most comicbook fans into manga was Lone Wolf and Cub. But if this is a more sensitive class (by that I mean you'll get into trouble if you show them stuff like what I mentioned above), Nausicaa, Oh My Goddess!, and maybe even Dragonball (never read it but I'm sure that some of the people are) might be better choices. |

Kenshin historically accurate? It has some truth behind it, but its still isn't a true portrail. The only things that are out in English that do that are Vagabond, Lone wolf and Cub, Samurai Executioner and Legend of Kamui.
And My Life? I think we all know the only part of the book the kids would read... |

Who knows, maybe they can be the next Bill Clinton. Or Even the best damn president that United States ever had. Last edited by darkhunter on Wed Sep 01, 2004 11:24 pm; edited 4 times in total |

Ok people. I already asked her if there were any restrictions that we should keep in mind when suggesting titles. Let's give her a chance to answer before we go all crazy with recommendations.

It doesn't matter, as long as it keeps to under age 17. That is all.

If thats so, I would just read some things people have written on other threads, like "what are you reading right now".

From the reviews I've read, My Life is nowhere near as juicy as the Starr Report and people have been widely disappointed. |

I just want a couple of titles to go buy. It would be really helpful. Thank you.
