And nobody complains about Shokugeki? The foodgasm isn't always sexual per se, but now people are complaining another series with fanservice?!

It's like the last people complained about the Muten Roshi's perversion, a character who existed since freaking 1984 and after 33 years, people thought his behaviour is too offensive (it is) and they can't take humor that is over three decades old and is probably even older?!

No wonder Anno created Gendo Ikari. Parents were apparently wimps in the '90s, and now 20 years later, parents are even wimpier than before, huh?!

For a country that loves skinship and has no qualms with public baths and some degree of nudity, they're quite prudish...

Wow, I cringe at that image Confused , I agree that it's a little too in-your-face for shonen jump, especially if there are children reading

That image just tells you that children don't Shounen Jump as much as they used to. It's becoming an Otaku magazine.

"but think of the children" is a terrible reason to censor. it's the parent's responsibility to decide what media their children consume, not the creator.

@Hoppy800, Shounen Jump is traditionally more of a teenager magazine (ages 10-18) than a "children's" magazine (ages 6-12). It's actually read a very wide range of people, from under 10's to over 60's years old. In it's peak circulation days in the 1990's it was read by a an estimated public of 20 million people. It's the most mainstream thing in the entire anime/manga world and hence the last thing I think we can call "otaku magazine".

That goes only so far though. There are some contexts that should be more child friendly. There's a reason more explicit shows air after 10:00. Having said that, I honestly don't think the fanservice is too offensive, but the lucky sukebe trope it draws off of is a problem.

Quite an orientalist assumption, pal. Sentō aren't as prevalent as you think in Japan anymore. Presently, it's usually a novelty or working class thing.

Twenty million people? It was my understanding 1994 was the peak at 6.53 million.

At the same time, I doubt any of the character polls put them in the nude.

Did nobody see the 'hot springs' chapter of Black Clover last month? I was actually impressed with how they chose not to beat around the bush AT ALL. Just, hey, full frontal* for everyone! I hate fan service, but I liked that.

This is still going on? I think they should gather some of these parents in a room and drop some old school issues in their faces so they can move on, but that's just me.

Hope this series gets an anime one day.

Certain commenters said the depictions should be adult content and "Jump wasn't like this in the old days."

Rolling Eyes Ironic how this thread turned out since half of the people in this thread would scream heresy if the cover of Shounen Jump had barely clothed muscular men on the cover instead of the typical almost-nude girls. Rolling Eyes

Neither Yuragisou, the magazine version is censored, the tankobon version that has actual nudity, so talking about nudity in Shonen Jump is just useless since there's no nudity in the magazine itself.

About Souma, in the recent chapters we had a very erotic foodgasm with one of the female judges wearing a erotic bikini having the other two judges in the middle of her big boobs being pressed by her, it was totally suggestive, you switch the two judges with that "thing" and you have a hentai scene that you can put in every hentai gallery. Someone in Japan complained about children reading this? no...

Just to show how this controversy is totally stupid and started by some very hypocrite person since we can provide a million of other examples in the same magazine, or every shonen magazine out there, but Yuragisou was the chosen one this time, and for a stupid reason since that color page compared with other chapters in the manga, is totally innocent lmao
