Haven't seen direct examples of what this person did, but what I'm seeing being claimed is that they were releasing videos that were altered using AI to depict vtubers saying things they never actually did with the intention of spurring hate towards these vtubers.

Good. I hope this bankrupts that POS. That channel was making AI videos of the Holilove tubers saying abusive and racists stuff to generate hate.

It would be nice to have some details of what is alleged. A while back, Any Color/Nijisanji, used the copyright strike system through youtube to a couple of vtuber news channels with it being pretty unclear what the exact infringement was. It seemed to be related to using the images of the talents in thumbnails for videos, though it was seen more as a way to send a message to those channels since Any Color sent a couple of claims, but not the third that results in youtube terminating a channel.

If stuff is being altered, that is very different. Making something using the talents/characters is always one of those things reliant on the owners being ok with it. Cover encourages fan art, for example, so my hunch would be that its what is being presented, especially from a news channel, and even more so if it involves any alterations to what people said.

Here is some context for the situation. It's far from an unbiased perspective, but given ANN chose to do the journalistic malpractice of referring to AI slopping misinformation as "reporting on news," it's the best summary of the situation out there.

" Most recently Cover's court case got updated as they REJECTED a settlement and plan to fight it out in court "
