Thanks for the info. Thought that they might’ve went with an actual cartridge after Sonic Racing, but that’s a pass for me since they’re still not willing to give up on GKCs.

Apparently it's also a mediocre port with no upgrade path for people who already own Frontiers Switch - you'd have to buy it again at full price. So yeah, not gonna bite on this one, though it's sadly not surprising.

I think this title has the best "butt rock" OST in a Sonic game since Sonic Heros. Already have the game for PC.

Yeah, the reactions to this port have been very negtive, and I cannot blame the fans. I'd say SEGA has made some really baffling decisions recently, especially in regards their support on the Switch 2, like I know that SEGA probably doesn't consider the Switch 2 as important as other platforms, though at least they've announced things like the new Crazy Taxi and Alien Isolation, but Sonic is one of SEGA's few IPs that actually sells better on Nintendo, heck, Sonic Frontiers on the Switch is the only version that managed to chart on Famitsu's Top 30 when it orginally launched, one would think they'd give extra attention to the Sonic Frontier port, Capcom has recently shown their DMC V NSW2 port and it apparently looks great.

Sega in general have been making dumb decisions. They refuse to do upgrade paths (likely to get people to double dip), insist on using key cards even when those releases end up being sold for fire sale prices to free up inventory at stores, have doubled down on terrible decisions with the Like A Dragon franchise and Stranger Than Heaven, and decided to put AI slop in Crazy Taxi of all things. Just baffling behavior all around. The only reason they're not doing to stupidest of major publishers is because Microsoft is around (somehow)

So I have to trade in the hard of copy of the low-demand (low resell value) original in order to discount the full price of this new upgraded edition that doesn’t have a physical game card that I could later trade in if desired? Okay.
